A little bitty to do list…to remember.

November 29, 2011

(my head is down…my eyes are looking ahead…shuffling right along through the thick mucky piles of paper…my mind is reeling…must.get.this.stuff.finished)

Home Study To Do

  • Bank Letters & Bank Statements…scheduled.
  • Proof of Assets…must do this.
  • Medical check AND lab work…scheduled.
  • Psychological Evaluation…called to set up an appt…waiting.
  • Passport photos…must do this.
  • IBESR letter…must do this.
  • 171-H application…must do this…then comes the fingerprinting…and the wait for the 171-H approval.
  • Photo Collages…must do this (as soon s I finish this post, because it sounds fun).
  • Copy of passports…will have hubs do this tonight…oh wait, our ink cartridge ran out of ink.  Must do this.
  • All of the notarized stuff has to be state authenticated and then a handful of things have to be sent to the Haitian Consulate.
  • and I think there might be more…I’m afraid to look.  But I think that is most of it.
  • and everything is being translated into French as I send it in.  Cooool.
  • Must learn French.  A friend is bringing me some dvd’s soon so our entire family can learn together.  This is not a dossier requirement though…so I should stop babbling.

And then, THEN, we are going to party like rock stars when it’s all done.  Because what awaits…what this all means…the reason for all of this…is extremely important to us.  He lives in Haiti.  Can’t wait to find out who he is.

  • Find out who he is.  Our son.

Wow. I’m still trying to understand the Haiti process. So it’ll be real soon, then? (relative)

As soon as we finish our home study and dossier, we can expect a referral. It *could* take a month or two. And then we wait foreeeeeever to get through the system in Haiti. But we can go and visit him.

…because there are children waiting for families…that is why it’s almost an instant referral.

Shit, girl! You are close. Keep schooling us on the Haiti process. I know you won’t be able to bring him home soon, but you’ll see his face. Wow! Gushing for you!

Wowzers mousers for two reasons: 1. that is one hell of a dossier 2. you’re expecting a referral *SOON*?! I didn’t realize that! I lay $10 you’ll know who your son is before we know who ours is. Are you betting type? :)

You’re on Mindy. $10. But you owe it back if your son comes home before mine does…which he will. Big time. I might get my referral soon…but my wait after referral can be very long. You will hopefully only have months (only, sha!…like anytime is easy) after referral to bring little dude home (b/c your wait was on the front end). And I say we both owe each other a martini (in person) when both of our sons are home. :)

It sounds like we are in the exact same spot with our homestudy and dossier. Except you guys definetly have a few different things you need to collect for your homestudy than we do. Good luck.

Do you have a child already in mind?
