Home Study Complete!

December 18, 2011

I drop off our last remaining home study documents tomorrow, and then our social worker will finish writing it.  YAYYYYY!!!!!  This feels SOOOOO GOOOOOD!!!! I am hoping it won’t take as long for her to do that as it did last time (2 months…yep, ouch).   That was a hard 2 months to just wait for it to be written for our Ethiopian adoption.  And yes we are using the same home study agency and social worker b/c she knows our family so well.  I just have to trust…hope…beg the universe…pray that it won’t take that long this time.  But, life will continue on if it does.  She is also a very busy lady who is trying to help multiple families.  I need to remember that.

We have completed all of our dossier requirements now, but have a follow-up with our psychologist for the psych eval requirement the first week of January.  That is when we review the letters she has written for us and then she gives them to us if they look good.  Which I’m sure they will…she’s a smart cookie.   Now we have to have all of our documents translated to French and send many of them off to be authenticated.  I am dreaaaadddding this part.  Ugh.  The snail mail waiting game…this also took some time with our last adoption.  Nothing is quite as frustrating as getting a document back…that you over-nighted for big bucks mind you…just for it to be returned for a correction.  Haha (not really laughing here…or maybe it’s a nervous laugh).

Okay, seriously though…I am doing much better now and my spirits are lifting!  Doing a home study and dossier and working full-time and juggling 2 awesome girls in different schools and trying to pull off a Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa holiday season is fun, challenging, and just completely crazy.  But, I would have it no other way.  I’ll try to post pics of each of our holiday events.  I LOVE this time of year!  Happy Holidays!  *cheers*

And, wordpress just informed me that this is my 130th post (on this blog).  Woot woot!  *cheers again* (any excuse for another sip at this point, wink)

Yay! We just got our homestudy re-written for an update and are sending it off today to get The Great Seal from our state. (When you say The Great Seal make sure to say it in a man’s voice full of authority) :)

I’ll take a sip (or two) in celebration for you, too. :) Congrats on finishing the home study paperwork. It is definitely an accomplishment! I, too, remember being frustrated by how long it took our social worker to write our home study. I hope this time it is done faster!
